"Glass Engine" begins in stillness — ambient pads drifting like fog through an abandoned factory, a clean chillout guitar tracing patterns on cold concrete.
Then the engine ignites. A distorted palm-muted guitar riff locks into the grid at 90 BPM — D minor, mechanical, inevitable — while a gritty synth bass drops beneath it like pistons firing in sequence.
Compressed snare hits land with surgical precision. Metallic percussion scatters like sparks off a lathe. Electronic glitches stutter and fracture across the stereo field while a staccato synth lead cuts through the machinery like a diamond on glass.
Mechanical whirs spiral upward. Digital distortion bleeds at the edges. Every element is a moving part — no decoration, no excess — just the engine running at peak compression.
It's not a song. It's a machine that dreams. Robert Miles building cathedrals inside Chemical Brothers' factory floor. Ninety beats per minute of controlled demolition wrapped in D minor darkness.
The glass doesn't shatter. It resonates.
